Merida

In Merida, also known as “la blanca Merida” (white Merida) because of the white of its buildings built with limestone, the Mayan culture coexisted with the Spanish and you can find colonial constructions and wonderful archeological zones; full of history and tradition.

In this city we can find the second biggest historical center of Mexico, where the magnificent culture of Merida is reflected through emblematic buildings. Likewise, one cannot visit Merida and not stop at the San Ildefonso Cathedral, the first cathedral to be built in all of Latin America, thus being the oldest in all of Mexico. Great, isn’t it? If you are interested in the culture of this place, you can see the murals that decorate the wall of the Government Palace, where all the history of Yucatan is captured. Also, you have to visit “el monumento a la patria”, “el paseo de Montejo”, “el palacio cantón”, “las casas gemelas” and much more; honestly, we would never finish.

The flight experience

The flight from Cancún to Mérida takes approximately 90 minutes, flying over the immense jungle of the Yucatan Peninsula. From the air, you can appreciate the transition from coastal landscape to the interior, with its cenotes, henequen haciendas, and colonial towns. A journey that by road would take over 3.5 hours.
